It was very good and I recommend it. Also we saw it in 3 D which was awesome and I highly recommend that as well. When the movie started they do the Wish Upon a Star music and do the pan over the castle with the Walt Disney Logo. I leaned over to Kaitlyn and said "I'm going there tomorrow." Loved it more the than the first time. My favorite characters (besides the obvious) are Jasper and Charlie. Charlie is such a great dad, and Jasper I just find delicious. He is much closer to the Edward in my head.

I finished Eclipse Thursday night. I went way past my hour allotment, by about 45 minutes. Then I read the whole thing though again yesterday morning, last night, and this morning. I can't wait to start Breaking Dawn this evening. Its about 700 pages, so that should just give me enough time to finish it with my hour rationing with two days to re-read it before I leave for vacation.

I let Jessie borrow my copy on Twilight and I am going to be honest with you when I say that it hurt me to see it go. But if she enjoys it, I will be ok. Even if she doesn't... I will be fine. At least I gave her the chance to see if she loved it. Not everyone does. I can only prozletize so much. ;-)

So Knitting!

I didn't work on the FLS at all yesterday. I am making mittens for Julian and I have been given a deadline of Sunday. I made them according to the pattern guidelines but they really don't look like they are going to fit. And I don't have him here to try them on. I guess I can only make them based on what the pattern says and the measurements I have taken of his hand.

I think I have finally got my FLS working ok. I am to the part right after you start the lace and divide for the sleeves. I did all that Thursday and Friday and I tried it on. Its a major pain to do because I have to slide all the stitches off and onto a piece of waste yarn. So I tried it on, and I wasn't happy with the way it fit. The sleeves are supposed to line up with the raglan increases but because of the alterations I have made to the pattern the arms looked poofy when I put it on. So I ripped back to the sleeve divide and took a few stitches off each side of each arm. Then I had to get everything back on the needles the right way which is really hard to do with lace... luckily this lace pattern is easy to figure out. But I always end up with the stitches backwards when I put the needles back in, which suuuuucks when you are trying to knit the next row. But I got everything back on and I am now at the part that I was at before I frogged back. Its all the four rows of the lace pattern til the very end. And the arms still...

I went and saw Twilight yesterday afternoon. I liked a lot. They changed some things and I am OK with what they did. My favorite lines were all there and everyone was perfect. Some parts were cheesy, but so was the book. I do love these books because they are good! I love them because of the emotional high they give me, and the movie delivered. I squealed and got all squiffy through the whole movie. But quietly. I get uncomfortable being demonstrative in movie theaters. I will definitely be seeing it again. My only disappointment was that Amy couldn't see it with me this time we tried very hard to make it work. We are going next week though. I went to the 4:25 show after work. I called her right after and gave her the full report. She got so excited about seeing it that she asked a friend to come watch her sleeping children and somehow snagged tickets for the 10 show at Tinseltown, which is about a 30 minute trip for her, if not more.

If that wasn't enough Twilight-y goodness for you! I also finished New Moon this morning. I was downstairs til about 11 last night and I knew I had about an hour of the book left to go. But reading it this morning threw off my whole schedule... I already had my dose of reading this morning... should I read again tonight?!?!? I think I am going to re-read the whole thing this weekend this morning before I start the next one anyway. I will get back on the schedule Monday for Eclipse.

As stated in my previous post I have gone coo coo.
The only thing different is that I haven't touched my moebius scarf since last week.
I have been obsessively knitting on the FLS. The secret is that the real reason that I am obsessively knitting on it is so I don't go and read more of my book.

I read Twilight twice over the weekend. From Friday evening to Sunday, right before bed, I read a 5 hundred page book twice! That also shows how much of an easy read it is. I started the second, New Moon, and I am limiting myself to an hour a night. And I think I am going to cut it down to 30 minutes a night. It is really like a drug for me. I read then I have a hard time falling asleep thinking about what I just read. When I stop reading I'm sad because I know its 23 hours until I can read some more. I have never rationed myself like this with a book. Parts of this had me sobbing! Pure crack!!

The FLS is almost to the end of the raglan increases. Once I get there I will be able to see if the sizing is right or if I need to frog and start over with more stitches. Fingers crossed. I was thinking earlier that I would like to see one in seed stitch. I do believe that I will try it on the FBS first to see how it looks.

I have a very big problem.
Usually I'm a very monogamous person. I think it comes from my ability to to be very focused. But now I have three things I want to be doing and I can't do them all at once!

On Thursday night I cast on for both my very own moebius scarf with the Silky Malabrigo I bought, AND for the February Lady Sweater. The silky malabrigo is absolutely wonderful. I love the colors and I love knitting with it. This is the third time I have made this pattern, so now its totally mindless. The FLS is pretty mindless too. Right now I'm about four inches into it, its all just garter stitch one row and garter stitch with increases on the second row.

Part of the problem is the silky malabrigo... Have you ever watched a show on DVD when you loved it so much you wanted to make it last so you tried to watch it like a real show- just one episode a week? Especially when its the only or last season? But you are dying to know what happens?
I want to wear this scarf so bad... but I don't want to ever stop working with the pretty colors and the nice nice yarn.

Fun fact about me- pretty much any yarn that is half silk half wool is going to make me happy. I can't get enough of that sheen!

I really really want to wear the FLS too. But I am committed to having a sweater that I am 100% happy with, so I know that I will probably be ripping back at some point, so I'm trying not to get too attached to what I have now. Once I hit the lace I think everything will be smooth sailing, but its really important to get the size right of the yoke right. I don't want to make a table with wobbly legs that is going to annoy me every time I use it just for the sake of making a table.

The third drain on my time is... reading Twilight.
There I said it! I'm so in love with this book. I know its terrible for me, complete brain fluff. Even more so than the trashy historical romances that I usually read, but I can't help it. I sit there reading, thinking about how stupid some of the things sound- and I don't care! I just get all caught up in the romance of it.

Its funny... I have never read a book that I wanted to savor. But this one I do. I stopped reading at a reasonable hour last night, when usually I want to stay up til I'm done. I think its because the chapters are nice and long and they stop at good points. I want to know what happens next, but there isn't a cliffhanger that needs to be answered. For all that I'm spoiled about what happens in the very end of the series (I read the wikipedia article when the last book came out) I have no idea about what happens in this book or in the other two.

Also I need to do a bunch of other things this weekend, like clean. I also want to see Quantum of Solace. But I am going to see HSM3 tonight for my cousin's birthday, and we are going to see Mamma Mia on Sunday at the Kentucky Center. I also want to put some cold air stopping plastic up on our front windows- them things is drafty. I think Chris is planning on going to see all three Back to the Futures tonight at Baxter. The first one starts at ten. I'm sorry but that is my bedtime. Ooo mental note, Paul Rudd on SNL tonight, must Tivo.

So me and the girls went to Lexington on Saturday for a yarn crawl. Loads of fun!

After our first aborted attempt to go to Rebelle a few weeks ago we were determined to let nothing stand in our way this time. I made sure that the Keeneland fall meet had ended. Thanks to a brainwave from Jessie we realized that UK had a game Saturday. We worked around it with a minimum of stress.

The first store we hit was Magpie. We figured we wouldn't be there as long as Rebelle so it worked out better to go there first because of the game end time.
I wasn't that happy with the store. It is a good yarn store, but not for me. She is definately trying to cover the market that is not being covered by ReBelle.
The main thing I didn't like about the store was the organization of the yarn. Everything was done by color and weight. It is really pretty and seems like a good idea but its really not. There was a lot of this by the three of us- "ooo this is pretty, I wonder if she has it in another color." Which led to a giant search to find all the colors. Stoopid. It reminded me of something in one of my favorite books, Scarlett. She is at her cousin's store and he has his gloves sorted by size, not color. Instead of all the black gloves being together, all the large gloves are together. Its hard to find two black gloves the same size in a bin of black gloves, but easy to find two black ones in a bin of larges. And she needed more shelves... we about tore the place apart pulling out our yarn.
I found some Louisa Harding Grace Hand dyed that I liked. It was 50 wool 50 silk like the Handmaiden I used for the Moebius scarf I made before. This yarn is also destined for a moebius scarf. I wanted something multicolored, but I settled for a kettle dyed looking blue.

Rebelle I kinda want to move into. They have tons of Cascade, which was the other item on my shopping list- for a February Lady Sweater. I saw a periwinkle that I just loved but I have already made two blue sweaters. So, after careful deliberation and holding of yarn up to my face we decided I should get green. Its lighter than the original green of the one on the pattern, but its also a different yarn... Its on the lighter side but not too light, but not emerald either. With Jessie to help with math skills I got all 7 balls they had.

I also found some Malabrigo 50 wool 50 silk, which was multi colored. It really pissed me off because it was just what I wanted for my Moebius but I had already bought the stuff at Magpie. Stupid Magpie!
But! Brilliant Jessie reminded me that Christmas is coming and I could make a present out of the Magpie yarn. Sooper. So I got the Malabrigo too. I cast on right away for the Christmas present scarf. I think this scarf and the other present I knit are the only ones I am going to make this year. I'm still on the fence about whether I'm going to make another Giant Doily for the Yankee Swap at Christmas.

I also got another magnet to match my sheep magnet at work. They are part of a set, the kinds of fibers to knit with. I've been kicking myself that I didn't get the bamboo one since last year. But I keep forgetting to bring it to work. I just love magnets. But really just the little ones that are supposed to be pins but have a magnet glued on the back instead of the pin part, or the glass dome kind. Not the ones that look like pineapples or tiny blenders.

I borrowed Holly's Magical Moebius book before to figure out how many stitches to cast on for the last moebius I made. I had a Tivo-ed episode of Knitty Gritty to teach me the cast-on, and the pattern I was going to us already in my head. I just needed to know if there was a trick about how many to cast on. I photocopied that section and gave the book back. So I went looking for it on Sunday so I could cast on. Ended up organizing all my patterns- put everything in clear pockets in a binder. But I couldn't find the sheet with the information I was looking for. I seemed to remember her talking about using a tape measure to find out the length you want, and using your stitches per inch to determine length. Which is standard practice... but I thought I recalled something about doubling your stitches to cast on, because of the wacky moebius shape. So I did all the maths and cast on and knit a row. Then I pulled all of them off with waste yarn- too big! So I scaled down a bit and tried again- still too big. Finally I talked to Holly on Monday and asked her to look at the book and tell me how many to cast-on. The book says nothing about doubling it! Just cast on the regular amount. The I realized that when she was talking about doubling it, she was refering to how when you cast on, you are casting on double because of the stitches on the top of the needle and the ones on the cord below- you only count the ones on the top. So now I'm a few rows in to it and I think I'm going to be happy with the length. The last scarf I made just about killed me, you have to stop and switch sides after just a few stitches. I kept wanting to just stop even though I knew I wouldn't be happy with the length. A moebius is different- by the time you get done with a row, its actually has two rows worth of width added- thanks to the power of the moebius. It does make it tricky when it comes to deciding if you have enough for another row before you cast off.

Seen this week-

Batesville Casket Company-
on the back of one of their semis
"Heaven Can Wait- please drive safe"

Seen last week in window of fancy condo downtown- all red Christmas tree- maybe election tree? Much fun was had by me... and Holly and Jessie and Iris... I assume. We left Humana (ps blogger doesn't recognize Humana as a word) super early so that we would beat rush hour and would have time to hit Rebelle. What we failed to realize was that Keeneland was open and generates a lot of traffic. We spent an additional hour slowly inching toward town. We made it fun and the baby was asleep so it was all good. As time ran out we realized that we were going to miss Rebelle, then miss dinner. Rebelle is a pretty granola crunching shop, they sell a lot of recycled items, alternative feminine products, homeopathic tinctures- they also have free condoms. We started joking about because we couldn't get our free condoms that we were going to have to have unprotected sex and get pregnant, and have to name the baby Keeneland because it was all stupid Keeneland's fault. Except it could be Qeann-L'layynde. The talk was cool (much small crowd than for the Harlot). We got dinner afterward and Iris was a doll. She actually came to me and let me hold her without crying. Holly dropped me off at my non-clockwork orange house. My car was still at work but I figured I could pick it up on Saturday when I was down there for the Race for the Cure.

Saturday we all schlepped downtown including Julian. We had to park forever away. I wore my Hallowig and got many compliments. After the race I was just going to go straight to my car but I forgot the keys in LB's car so I decided to forget about it and just get it the next day.

This morning we went downtown again to get my car... And it was broken into. They broke the tiny triangle back window and stole the radio. I really didn't give a shit about the radio, my brother gave it to me about 4 years ago for my birthday and it was only about 60 bucks brand new. The factory cassette player is still in the trunk. What really sucks is that they had a lot of trouble getting it out so the console has been pulled out and is cracked. My blinkers don't work and I don't want to think about what would happen if I try to turn on the heat (the vents are pulled wonky). They stole my cds but they were mostly Mix CDs and the others were on my ipod, so have fun listening to Favorite Christmas buddy. They got my garage door opener but I'm not that worried about it because- A. we always lock the inner door to the garage and B. even if they were smart enough to think to look for something with my address on it in the glove box- everything has Mom's address on it.

I take some perverse satisfaction in knowing they probably did it at night, and I have no over head light. Also I'm pretty sure they closed the inside passenger door at some point because the passenger door window was rolled down. As anyone who has ever ridden in my passenger seat will know- it doesn't open from the inside, you have to roll the window down and open it from the outside.

I'm going to call State Farm tomorrow and see if I can file a claim on the window. I doubt it though. At least they only broke the little window that doesn't roll up or anything. I was picking up the car to take it to have it looked at about another problem anyway. I left him a note so that he knows that it didn't happen at his shop and to ask if he can fix any of it. The shop is the autotech department that is part of my mom's work. The mechanic is teach juvies and crazy kids how to fix cars- lets hope some of the juvies know about stolen radios. If not, I think I might have someone in the family that is handy with things like car stereos and the like. Fingers crossed.

Of course Mom could not help "told you so-ing" me. "You should have picked it up Saturday." I checked as we walked by on Saturday that the car was still there, but I was too far away to see if anything was wrong. Can't be helped now Mom. I am dreading going over there tonight for dinner. I don't want to hear about it all night.

I was thinking of waiting until December for my Fit, but I think that plan has been pushed up. I guess I will see what the damage is going to be. Maybe end of the month? Help a car salesman meet his quota.

On this day

As told by Wikipedia-

1633- The Holy Office in Rome forces Galileo Galilei to recant his scientific view that the Sun, not the Earth, is the center of the Universe.

1978- Charon, a satellite of the dwarf planet Pluto, is discovered.

1903- birth of John Dillinger

1920- birth of Paul Frees, prolific voice artist, including- Ludvig von Drake, the "Ghost Host" in the Haunted Mansion ride, the auctioneer on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, and Burgermeister Meisterburger in "Santa Claus is Coming to Town."

1949- birth of Meryl Streep

1958- birth of Bruce Campbell

1969- death of Judy Garland

1987- death of Fred Astaire

2002- death of Ann Landers

and last but not least-

2006- death of Moose, the dog that played Eddie on Fraiser

I forgot my Ipod for work today. Its because I'm typing it at work and then I will transfer it to my computer at home. Hurrah for return checks. Having a computer available at work makes it a lot easier to not work. Before there was only so much I could do while hiding upstairs.

I have been dedicatedly knitting lately, instead of just picking it up at SnB. I caught Lord of the Rings fever again at the first of the week so I have been watching and stitching. They played them on the Teevee over the weekend, but I didn't really watch them- why should I when I can see the longer ones with commentary?

So I've been watching and knitting trying to rock my Noro sock. Its toe up with a gusset on account of my giant feet. But because of my giant feet I have had to semi-wing it with a pattern. I'm sort of using Widdershins from Knitty but that is for an 8 inch foot and I'm 10.

So, the heel of this sock is on attempt 2. I got all the way up to almost the end of the heel flap before I tried it on. It "fit" but not the way I really wanted it to. So yesterday I pulled it all the way back to the end of the gusset. I wanted it to be longer so I added a few more gusset rounds. I turned the heel last night, but after looking over a few internet resources today I have decided to pull out the turn again and make it bigger. I'm just not happy about it the way that it is. It seems stupid that if I'm going to rip back as much as I did the first time and not just take it back a few rows, short rows at that.

I think I have made enough notes about number of stitches on the needle to be able to duplicate this (and by this I mean the size of the sock, not the trouble with heels) again on the next sock. I thought I was going to make the next smaller in circumference but I think I'm going to keep it the same. For the next pair though, I will take out about 4 stitches. I am definitely in love with the magic loop method. I started it on double points so as not to have the cord in my way (using a modified [by me] figure 8 cast on). The Knitpicks needles are super awesome, the needle is nice and long (I can fit the whole half of my giant sock on the needle at once) and the cord is thin and very flexible. Perfect for magic loopin.

I have come out of blogging hibernation for this Urgent News Flash!

I just realized that according to the pictures on Knitty I have been wearing my Clapotis inside out all this time! Crap. Work as always is just great... I made the schedule for next week and gave my help Friday and Saturday off because of inventory earlier in the week. Floral gave her it off too. Great... So I get a call on Thurs from the guy puttin the schedules in- you've got her off and floral has her off but they have her working backdoor receiving. Crap. I was pissed and she was pissed. And to put the lid on the jar Saturday is also her birthday. The guy that works backdoor is going on vacation. And my help is the only one right now who knows backdoor. Which also means I won't have any help for that week after. And it is forth week which means tons of tags- coming into a holiday which means more- when we are holding over the ad which means more. Great...

Still haven't bought eyes for my hedgehog so he is sitting here deflated. I'm about a tenth of the way done with my seasilk scarf. Yup that's my cables and os sweater. I survived vacation- barely. We had a mainly good time. I can't tell you how the games came out, though.

I rode the subway, did Times Square, Rockafeller Center, and of course Central Park. I got there early and chatted with a few other early birds, Much yarn and socks were displayed. I spoke to Kay of Mason Dixon. (I asked if she was the Mason of the pair.) My sweater is in two pictures on M/D and so is the tip of my shoe.

After hangin with the knitters for a while about 15 of us walked over to Knitty City. Some really pretty yarn- but you know what I came out of the shop with? I skein of Lambs Pride Bulky. And the Harlot's book. I can't buy yarn without a purpose. The Bulky is a color I have been waiting for the Shoppe to get back in. They had so much seasilk. It was so pretty. And a sample of the scarf Jessie is making. Plus some of the seasilk bulky. Nice. I rode the subway home myself. One of the chicks was a local who told me where the closest station was (not even a whole block away).

We went up the Empire State Building last night. We got in line at 11 oclock and didn't get back to the room until 1 AM. Lori had to be up at 6am to catch her shuttle. I finished the sleeves on Cables and Os. The side seam has been sew on each and they are just waiting for the body to catch up. Right now I'm still on the ribbing and each row takes forever. The body is made all in one piece. And the ribbing at the bottom is twisted ribbing, K1P1, twisted ribbing. The RS were I twist the knits takes about 20 minutes- the WS with the twisted purl stitches takes 45 minutes. And I have to do about 20 more rows of this before I can start the pattern. Damn. Plus I swear this time I am going to make the damn thing long enough to be comfortable for me. It should be easier since there is a pattern repeat that I have to follow.

I got acrylic nails yesterday. Lori was getting hers filled and filed. They asked if I wanted some and I said- not unless she's payng for it. And she did want to pay for them so I got them. I've never had fake nails- unless you count the time I was a witch when I was seven and they all fell off before I got three houses down whist trick or treating. They still feel really weird,, but they make my fingers look so good. French manicure in case anyone was wondering.

I'm see yall next week!

Yall, I'm leaving for New York tomorrow. And I can say I'm not even excited. All I want to do is go to the top of the Empire State Building, and I've already done that. It was the only thing I got to do the last time. If they weren't going to be on a game show I would just eat the 300 buck for the plane ticket and stay home. Its going to be coldish. I have to much stuff to worry about. Will the hotel give us shit about staying in the room? Are thos other girls coming? Will that Douchebag other player even show up? Is he going to end up just flaking? Will I be able to survive with my aunt for that long? How are we going to sleep? Will they confiscate my needles? Should I put in a lifeline now? Will I have enough money? Will I have any money left over. Anything I have left over will be a nice boost for my Disney Fund.

Sigh.

I watched The Quick and the Dead tonight. I lurve that movie. Russell Crowe before he went a little crazy- looking all tan and yummy. As someone who worked floral today, I should know. And I will be there again tomorrow. As the white wrapper, with green paper. As in- "certainly sir, I will be happy to wrap that. " Today I broke down all the flats and organized them on the refrigerated truck. Now I can't move. My arms are killing me. I was at work for two hours of overtime. Go me! Plus more probably tomorrow. I hope I can make it to knitting.

I made my sister a pair of Knucks fingerless gloves. I finished those last Friday and I don't think I've touched my needles since then. Between project lull. I took a chance and bought the Sea Silk that I had my eye on. I guess that is going to be a Clapotis. Unless yall can think of something else to make with it. The Perfect Sweater is the Next Big Thing. I am going to try the hemmed edge with a contrast color and a V neck. Maybe with a little cable up the middle. I'm still thinking that part.

I'm off to hobble to bed. The whole time i had the house to myself, it was all The Doctor, all the time. I can't help it. We were watching Heros last night and I could not turn off the squee when ever Christopher Eccleston appeared with his Manchester accent. And he isn't even MY Doctor. That is Ten and not Nine. Though after seeing all the first new series, he has really grown on me. Yall, this is worse than LOTR. That only has about 24 hours of movie, this has 28 hours of episodes!

In knitting news- I finished the other mitt this morning. My hat is almost done, but I need to get 8 dpns (size not amount). Need to get more bleepin Wooly Stripes for the thum, and I guess I will make her a ear warmer too. I'm at a loss for my next big thing. Maybe a Perfect Sweater? I liked the one on the new post of Mason Dixon. Not with the wristwarmer option though. Go me.

First up in the world of knitting, I finished that hat the next morning, and I love it. I;m so proud of my fair ilsin'. I showed it to my mom and she said it was nice. I'm like "see it color changes?" because she isn't giving my hat the praise it deserves. It takes a few times of me saying things for her to get that I made the colors change and not the yarn doing it itself. Then she said Wow and all that. I like the hat, I love to pet it just not wear it. It is supposed to be small but it sides up off my head. I love my non wearable hat, I really do. Also I made it to the top of Mom's other mitten with just a foot of yarn to go- bad news is I still have to do the thumb. sad face. I whipped out a mitt for myself out of my leftover white alpaca. I lurve it. And I have already got a good start on the second. My own design, just plain. Inch of ribbing, stockinette, ribbing on the thumb and another inch of ribbing on the top.

As an aside the whole time I'm typing this my inner monolouge has had a London accent, as a consequence of me watching Doctor Who all day long. Seriously- all day long. I did mounds of laundry, vacummed, knitted, and watched The Doctor. We have Series One and Two on DVD. (Barnes and Noble was having a buy one get one free sale on all TV discs, and at 100 bucks a Series this was a great deal- but I didn't buy them)

On the plus side I can now breath out of my nose! Yeah! I'm going to try tonight with no Nyquil and see how it goes.
In Family News- LB and Topher have made it past the first round of their tryouts. They passed the test and were interviewed they will find out tomorrow if they will go on again. They saw a fake taping of the Price is Right. It was testing out a tryout host for after Bob retires. They are going to see Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight.

Since I've upgraded to the new blogger I can't get it to spell check. Its really annoying.

Thanks for the well wishing Jessie, but I wasn't sick. It was Mom's birthday. I guess I forgot to mention that. A great time was had by all. We went to Austins. I had never been there. It was pretty good. The server was a high school friend of Chris's. We had dinner then came home and did the cake thing. We didn't eat any of it because we were so full, just sang and blew out candles. Mom liked her mitten and a half. Usually when she walks in the mornings when its cold she has to wear mitten and gloves. This, I hope will be beter. Then we played "Shout about TV" Of course Chris won but I did beat him on the Transformers question so I have that to my credit.

Knitting is coming along. I reached the longest drop on my Clap, it was such a rush. I'm thinking about another one done out of Handmaiden SeaSilk. I think one skein will be just about enough. I've seen some very pretty colors for it. Rose Garden is my favorite- pink and green.

We've got that stomach bug going around at work too. One of the managers had it yesterday. A seafood guy had it too. My friend Terry's mom had it but lied to Terry about how long she'd had it ( told her a few days really for about a week) so she ended up in the hospital with her organs starting to shut down. Now Terry is sick too. Poor thing. Get lots of sleep, drink lots of water and have an orange.

I sent Chris into Sophies to get more fleece for me. They were out. But whoever helped him knew it was for me. I think is was Maria. He was fuzzy on the details but he knew she was about his age and cute. So Mom is getting a mitten and a half. So now I can start on my fingerless gloves, or the fair isle hat, or the clogs I promised my aunt, or finish one of my many ufos.

I will probably be missing knitting this week so someone else will have to wear the top hat.

Well yall its the new year. Hot Damn. Blabbity blah resolutions and such, reminice about the old year. I love my Bitches! That is all.

I went and got my car washed today even though I knew it was going to rain again. Thanks to Steph I was able to retreive my fallen knit magnet. I remembered halfway though the wash that you can lose your magnet, and sure enough I looked out the window and saw it on the ground. I got out after it was done and scooped it up. Right next to a breast cancer and a support our troops. Unfortunately one of my windows was down just a bit. I knew I should have checked, my little cousin rolled down the window a bit and I wasn't sure if she rolled it up all the way- she didn't. So now my car smells like the rasberry clear coat they sprayed, and so does my arm from leaning back to roll it up.

I finished one of Mom's thrummed mittens and am about to put stitches on the needle for the thumb on the other, but I have run out of fleece for the thrums. I really hope they have more periwinkle fleece. Wednesday is her birthday. I've got seven more drops on my clap before I decrease. Next up is my first fair isle. I'm having problems with it already. The pattern calls for two strands of worsted weight held together, but I did not feel like paying that much and worrying about two strands for my first fair isle. So Maria got me to get bulky instead. The pattern call for a size 11 but the yarn calls for a size 7. The hat is supposed to be snug anyway, but I fear that making it with a 7 will be too small and the 11 will be way too loose. Maybe I will try to add another repeat with the smaller size needles.

I got a new fake puppy today. Sammy the Miniature Dachshund was joined by Dori the Shih Zue. I love my fake dogs. Sammy is up to the second class of the frisbee competition. That's what earned me enough money to buy Dori.

I hate Kroger
I hate the Summit
I hate Springurst
I hate Walmart
I hate traffic
I hate taking 20 minutes to get home (when it normally takes 7)
I hate knowing it will only get worse

Done! I have to still knit up the neckband but that hardly counts. The ties are drying on the floor in my room, and the shoulders and sides are (mostly) sewn. I have to leave a gap in the side to figure out where to leave the smaller gap for the ties. The arms were sewn up ages ago and I've got to sew them in. Everything looks good so far. Its a bit shorter than I usually wear my sweaters, but its alpaca, it'll stretch. I want to give it a good washing when I'm done. The natural color probably shows all the dirt. I'm going to do it in a pillow case to minimize stretching. I still can't figure out were my missing 11 decreases came from but I threw a few extra in and everything came out fine.

Wow Battlestar Galactica! Another depressing show. The amazing show where nothing happy ever happens. But so good, But Doctor Who with little to no Doctor in it can kiss my ass. I was counting on The Doctor to cheer me up after watching Munich earlier. Wow, was that depressing. The high from finishing the sweater is keeping me on an even keel after all the depressing. That movie had me the closest I've come to throwing up in a while. And it gave me a headache. I did pause for a minute to enjoy Daniel Craig holding the gun all sexy. And him in the tight 70's jeans.

I also saw The Holiday today. I enjoyed it. I'm not a big fan of Jude Law, but I over came it. I think he is adorable and he has fantastic eyes but I just know he has been using that to his advantage all his life. He's just too cute for his own good.

What Kind of Knitter Are You?

You appear to be a Knitting Guru. I am using steam block this time as Alpaca has so much stretch. First I pin then I liberally spray with water and then I steam. Fun to do, and it makes the lights flicker in my room. I cast on for both the fronts and I am working them on the same needle, at least for the cabling. That is the same on both sides. I am working on the ties as well. Know how these things work, that will be the only thing not done that will be keeping me from wearing this sweater by the deadline. About a foot and a half done of the eight combined feet needed. Less than a month to go. I'm going to stitch up the arms tonight. Which reminds me- tonight's Gilmore Girls is titled- "Knit, People, Knit." The douchbag new husband causes the town's Knit-A-Thon to end early.

I was at the dentist today (great teeth! well done. Thank you Sonicare!) and a woman asked what I was knitting. Not the "Is that knit or crochet?" like I usually get. My friend Pam is making socks on two needles. She started to make them but she read the pattern wrong and for five inches was knitting two rows and purling one row. Doh. So she had to rip it out. Looks good now. Especially since I went in today and picked up her dropped stitch and fixed her last row. Seems she kept slipping the second knit going into the purl.

I finished putting up my lights outside. I hope they stick. I finished just as the sprinkles started this afternoon. Picture to come tonight when it get dark enough to look good. Now I just need to get a tree up in here.

So far on my sweater. 2 more inches on the back and four on the sleeve.

Did some clean up on the back yard today. Yall, this thing is so much fun. It comes with WiiSports and he got Zelda, and Trama Center, and Excitetruck. In TramaCenter you get to operate on people. Excitetruck is cool- you hold the Wiimote side ways and turn your hands like a steering wheel. I kick Chris's ass at it. He kept turning too much so it would overcompensate on the controller and turn the wrong way. You get to make your own Mii avatar so when you play Sports there is someone that looks like you. LB made hers rock the side ponytail. The sports actually get you up and moving. But the game still reminds you when you are getting read to start where the pause button is- "so why don't you go outside for a while." I enjoyed the bowling. There is also tennis, baseball, and boxing. It actually does respond to your movements! The Wiimotes come with straps so when you start to get crazy they won't go flying.

Reached the stockinette portion of the sleeve. About 4 inches to go before I start the sleeve cap. Same with the back- 4 more before I start the next part. Of course he's waiting for the Wii. Say it like you are going down a slide- its more fun. We are a Nintendo family. There was never any question that we would be getting the Wii and not the PS3. The only games I play are Mario types and Zelda. Big Zelda Fan. I've never actually beat the game- Damn Gannon. But on some of them I get really close. Plus it makes me feel smart when I go back and play again- that I already know how to solve the puzzles. I guess he is in line early enough or else he would have come home. I'll stop by on me way to work to see how he's doing.

Two rows done yesterday. Between working all day then eating right after and the 9 oclock bedtime, not much time for anything else. I think I'm back on track as far as stitch count.

On the plus side I expect an easy day today. Rachel should have the tags done when I get in and maybe even some of my job done too. Nothing went off sale. I pulled maybe 30 tags from the entire grocery section, contrasted to the 200-500 that a normal week brings. Next week is going to suck and so is the 6th of January. Everything goes off. At least we both get our three days off next week. I got Mon, Thurs, and Fri. Oh no! We've got movie sign! Once I reach the end of the arm shaping I will have a few inches on both that and the back of plain stockinette to go. Perfect for the movies.

And I just found out that Mr. Bond is going to be Lord Asriel in The Golden Compass. Very very excited. Opposite Nicole Kidman as Mrs. Coulter. But I already knew that. She is going to be perfect. They aren't the main characters. Lyra and Pantalaimon are, and Will. I also found out that they did a highly acclaimed play in England- where Timothy Dalton played Lord Asriel. That Bond thing goin on.

In other news, I cannot count. I wrote down all that changes I made on the first sleeve but I can't follow them. Mainly because I can't count. I have been working for the last hour under the assumption that I somehow had 111 stitches instead of the 105 that I should have had. I counted more than once, even after I added stitches. Grr. And I must say I enjoyed it. Daniel Craig was fabulous. If I had taken a date, he would have gotten lucky thanks to the steely blue eyes of Daniel Craig. Yummy. Whether its the sexy Bond music, all the tuxedos or the very handsome man with the British accent, I always feel very sexy after watching a Bond movie. I want to drive fast and wear slinky cocktail dresses. While wearing gorgeous jewelry and shifting gears. (I have a little thing for standard transmissions)

I brought the back of my sweater to the show and I only cocked it up a bit. I noticed most of the way through the movie that I dropped a stitch so I just stuck my needle in it to stop the bleeding and put it away. Sundays when I get up for work I just don't want to knit or read like I normally do. Because normally I get up two hours later.

We survived yesterday. Mostly not that cool. I wish there had been more fiber and less bull sperm. But we all thanks to Tara the sweater spotter we found fiber. We all got a pound of merino top roving for 16 bucks. Green for Jessie, Purpley for Tara and Grey for me. If we had wanted a natural color it was 8 something. We all wanted colored roving for the yarn that we don't know how to make yet.

Watched the kids (almost 8 and almost 15) last night we had dinner like we always do. Of course we were there for 2 hours. My aunt and uncle got there at six and ut our names in. We didn't get seated until 7, we ordered at 7:10 and the food came at 7:50. It was all hot and tasted good. But needless to say LB wooped some ass and we got to eat for free. Twenty extra bucks for me! I'm using the Alpaca with a Twist that I originally bought for a Elizabeth Zimmerman Percentage Sweater, before I had an epiphany. "Hey! Alpaca is really, really warm- I'm a naturally hot person- Maybe I shouldn't make a pullover sweater from this." But I figure a wrap sweater that I will wear with a cami will be ok. Its like knitting with butter. I keep rubbing it to my cheek. Of course I had to modify the arm a bit for my freaky shaped arms. But since the author of the pattern isn't stupid like the last sweater- the arm size is 19 and not 16.

I finish the blue sweater coat but I am going to redo the collar. I don't like how it looks on me but it looked great on Holly and Lucinda. Maybe once I redo the collar I will be happier with it- I'm just too close to the mistakes to really enjoy it.

I've got Saturday off. Yay! Sheep. Yes, it do be 5:30 in the morning and I am oot and aboot. You'd be amazed what that extra hour of sleep can do for you when you have to get up at 5 am. I even woke up 20 minutes before my alarm was supposed to go off. Fortunately (or unfortunately) my phone clock hadn't set its self back so it was going to go off at 4:10. I set the clock anew and went back to sleep- where I had a dream about drinking corn juice ( the juice of corn with little bits of corn in it- no such thing) with Commander Riker, and I was Cap'n Picard, and we were in a Space Big Rig.

The Livestock Expo- sounds like a super happy fun time. I would even be willing to take a day off on that Saturday- the 11th. The Sheep portion of the program start from Friday the 10th and go from there. I was going to go that Friday but if my homies are going- the Saturday would be cool.

Got my yarn for the poor blue sweater. I finished all of the inch that it needed for the back and blocked it. Now, just sewing the seams and picking up stitches for the shawl collar. I hop I haven't created to big a mess with all the extra stitches I added for my not 16 inch arms.

And I started a Lace Scarf with a little bit o beading on the bottoms that I am adapting from a shawl pattern because I don't have enough yarn.

Well crap Yall, I just remembered that Sheep and wool Festival in Corydon is this Saturday. And I don't think I can get off. I really wanted to go, too. Put on a frickin sweater. I actually got hot the other night. My face was blazing but my feet were icy. I always think of Little Women when that happens. Marmie comes home to nurse Beth with the scarlet fever, and she is burning up but her feet are cold. So I make sure to rub my feet together.

I'm saddened today because I found out that they haven't, and probably won't release the other volumes of Gargoyles. Rockin a good 6,7 inches. Unfortunately, it was a second left panel instead of a right. Doh! Frogged it, re-cast on, couldn't count, cast on again, did a few rows, can't count in a different spot, tinked, can't read numbers, tinked some more. Now I think I'm back on track. At least the mistake in the pattern is repeated on the second panel as well. I emailed them about it. But it could just be my math skills.

Once my frustration reached critical mass I decided to try and start the circular shawl with my new pretty purple. Big mistake there. Damn circular cast on. Plus, I can't find any 4 double points in this house. Goldangit. So I watched The History of Playing Cards and read The Fourth Bear.

New Kniity up today! But she is over it now. Thank goodness. But after all the managerial bullshit today, I almost wish I had got it. I could have had five days off. Suck it Kroger! My sister's friends gave her some get well soon presents. A iced cookie shaped like Belle and on the plastic over the cookie they pinked out her eyes, an It's A Girl balloon with the Girl crossed out and Pink Eye written in, a pink lightup pushpop, an orange with "Orange you glad we're your friends?", and some Matzo. Because the matzo was cheap. I oughta know, I marked them down.

Much bullshit at work. The manager has decided that we are to work 8-4:30 instead of 7-3:30, because she had a problem the other day after one of us left. First off, she is a manager and should know how to change prices, and secondly- big freakin deal, like an hour is going to solve anything. There are still problems after 4:30, too. Its 4th week which means almost all the prices change. And this is a really bad fourth week. I put out about 400 price increases today, as opposed to the 50 or so I would normally do. They have set up the promo aisle for Halloween so much time was spent tagging and signing that stupid aisle. And to top if off we didn't have any 3x11 sign paper for most of the week. We called about 4 times and finally Rachel drove down to Lynn Station Road to go get it.

I want some chicken wings.

It was Darkest Hour, the prologue to the Dawn series! I had the brilliant idea to try and clear out all the brush I already got rid of earlier in the year that has since grown back. Worst.Idea.Ever. I cleared about half the stuff, around 8 feet. I thought I was going to die. Filled up the whole big green trash can. I was just covered in filth when I came inside. We're watching The Thin Man right now. Its v funny. And a bit risque for 1934. I finished all my laundry for the second time in a row instead of leaving one load in the dryer like usual.

I was supposed to bring a friend of my sister to Sophie's today. But she had to stay home to wait for her landlord to call about her broken AC. She just knows how to K and P and is v excited about learning to make shapes that aren't scarves. She is coming on vacation with us and asked Lori if maybe we could knit on vacation. Hee, like you have to ask? She also was blown away that I actually go to an SnB. "She has a group? Of knitters!?"

I'm very excited about making the Natalie Coat from Big Girl Knits. The yarn it calls for is $10 a ball and I need 10 balls. The yarn is just 100% wool. I can get some from Knitpicks for $2 a ball. $100 sweater vs. $20 sweater. I can't even buy a sweater coat from Lane Bryant for that. Something like that would probably cost upwards of $60.

Happy August

Wow yall check it. I AM NOT HAPPY! Usually when I get a hair cut, I'm all "its only hair" this time I'm kinda pissed. I told her I wanted it to be at ear length at the sides, she decided that making it eye length was the thing to do. Plus given the added fluff of my hair its even shorter. I walked out of the shop, got on the horn to my LB leaving her a big complaining message. "My hair is shorter than Chris's! (our brother)" She had to come see it for herself. Even my brother said this morning, after I had said I didn't like it, "Its not a you haircut its a me hair cut." We almost have the same hair cut. I'm freaking out over here.

I'm good news, I don't have to go back to work until Wednesday. I have had almost two weeks off, and not a damn thing accomplished. I took my cousin's kids. 7 and 14. Except neither one can really swim. And while I might not be the strongest or most form correct, I am at home in the water. Lots of "Look I can swim underwater!" With only her face in the water, splashing out half the pool. "Can I swim to you (in the deep end) or walk to you?" Sure you walk and see what happens. There is a very sharp drop off from shallow to deep. My arms are still white from all the sunblock but I missed one spot on my shoulder. So one is burnt, I've been wearing a strapless for two days. I got some sun on my face even though I wore 50 spf, sunglasses that covered me from cheek to eyebrow, and a ball cap.

blind

I'm not seeing very well right now. I should have gotten the old lady free pair from the eye doctor.

I had a dream last night that I didn't even remember until I was looking at "you knit what." I dreamed that I was walking into Kroger and a woman was walking out wearing that asymmetrical sweater. That was the whole dream, that I remember.

I went out with LB last night to eat. Also with a friend of hers. Whom I hated. Couldn't stand her the whole time. And I can tell her influence in LB's behavior and I like that even less. But LB didn't ask what I thought of her so I didn't offer my opinion, but she probably knew. Plus she made fun of my purse and my knitting. She asked what I was doing and when I told her that I was making a sock, she asked- "Are you getting paid for that?" No. Wtf? Why the hell should I be getting paid for it. I'm sorry if going out and getting shit faced everynight is not my hobby. I do something productive. And when I was telling them how I wanted the Jordana Paige knitting purse but it was 90 dollars, she all snottily asked me what it was so expensive. Praise Be! She is a good friend as well as my immediate supervisor. All for naught.

Babysat last week, but it was my last time. I really miss those kids now. If they hadn't moved we could have had a long relationship. Sniff. The next two days after they left I was still really "on." Thinking I heard them, like I was still on the job.

I have got on every good prospect at work. The boy is all over me. Why? I have no idea. Always calling me Babe and what not. But I do the same thing to everybody. And yesterday he was really rubbing on my arm whilst standing next to me. Plus he is the perfect height. Head to shoulder resting ratio achieved! The bad part? He is only 18 and a freshman in college. Too young! Plus he goes to school somewhere else and is back for the summer. I'm pretty sure its in KY but I can't remember.

I'm about 1/2 inch into my Jaywalker, and I did my first short row tow and have moved on to the foot of my first toe up from the flo up sock. It was fine for the first few hours. It was just me and the little girl. We watched the morning lineup on PBS, part of it while she was laying sprawled on me. Loved it! Read about becoming a Pirate. Then she fixed my hair for a half an hour with her Barbie "hair dryer" and comb. Loved it! I love love LOVE to have my hair played with. It puts me a trance. Then we henced to the duck pond to feed the ducks, that weren't there. So we fed the fish.
Then the mom went and got the boy. We played outside whilst she painted up stairs. "Push me, push me!" "hold on I've got to see why your brother is screaming bloody murder." "push me awsin!" Repeat. The mom had to leave again to pick up the middle child (14) and the little boy started Fa-reaking Out! Everything set him off. It was nap time. I wasn't sure if he was a comfort or plop em and leave em napper, so I picked comfort. Wrong. But so nice. I was rocking him with his head firmly betwix my boosoms. That lovely hot baby feeling. Loved it. He wouldn't let me put him down so I just let him go about his business. After a diaper change and a snack he was a lot better. The girl on the other hand, full on leg kicking tantrum. "Just let me know when your done and we can get some juice" Much wagoning until mom got home and I got out of there.
thumbs up- cute fun kids, mucho moneyo,
thumbs down- no nap on my day off, flop flops are not walking shoes, major sunburn on my face

I didn't even get to sleep in today as I had to drive Topher all the way out to Grant Line Rd this morning for the second time this week because his car is in the shop. And he will have to drop me off and take mine tomorrow. My poor car already has something wrong with it (hell if I know what it is) this can't be good for it, especially not the way he drives.

Still working on the Sweet tart socks. I haven't done it in forever but I did today. The kids are 2 and 3 and just adorable. The 3 year old, a girl, is a cuddler and laid all over me whilst watching Willy Wonka and Futurama. I really miss that. Now I smell like baby. Delightful. Plus I made 60 bucks. Damnit I'm rich now. So going to Close Knit tomorrow.

I'm seriously thinking about a Pi shawl. A bit nervous about maybe trying to customize it with different patterns. I'm so fiddly about what lace patterns I like. Peacock was pretty much the only pattern for a lace shawl that I loved.

I finally planted the lilac I bought last Friday. Poor thing. The damn plant gave me a headache when I was driving home with it in the back seat. Too strong. No side effects today. The previous owners had two semicircles against the fence, edged in scalloped bricks and filled with pea gravel. I can't figure out what was their purpose. Maybe to sit planters on? I took out the gravel and plopped the bush in there. I'd like to get a hydrangea for the other one. Maybe on the other side of the yard. I can't remember at the moment whether they like full sun or not. I just wish flowers weren't so expensive. I buy anything substantial and I blow all my mad money for the week. I'm really waiting for Memorial Day when Kroger is having a BOGO sale on hanging baskets. There are 6 hooks attatched to the fences and I'm ready for color!

Fever

I've got the Disney Itch again. It has crept up on me. Watching a commercial, I think "Damn Its been forever since I've been to Disney World." When I tell Mom this, she so wisely points out that it has been a week over a year since we went last. And that we had gone to Disneyland in October. Oh. We were there last year for the big Happiest Homecoming on Earth Celebration. And for LB's birthday. 05-05-05. (50-50-50 backwards for the 50th anniversary of Disneyland) That was the day of both land and sea on our Land and Sea Vacation.

*turns head to look at camera two*
In knitting news I'm Working on sock two of the Simply Stripes Sweetarts without having finished the first sock. So last night I went whole hog and put both of them on the same set of circs, even though one is on the leg and the other is almost to the toe. I'm a knitter on the edge people. I woke up crazy early at 6, but I still got 8 hours. Translation? I'm an 80 year old woman that goes to bed at 10. But you would be amazed at what you can get accomplished. Today is my sister's birthday so I wanted to write all over her car windows before she got up. But I didn't know what time she had to be at work. I kept thinking that if I go know she is going to see me doing it. I keep putting it off and off and finally went at 8:15. And as I'm pull into the subdivision she is pulling out. Doh. She calls me up and I tell her I'm coming for Mom's spade. Pretty sneaky sis. But there is no way I'd get the damn thing. I'd have to fight the possum that has taken up residence in the shed to get it. No matter how much Stephani wants some possum yarn.

I planted a mandevilla this morning. I want to get a trellis for it. They climb like weeds but bloom so pretty. We have a trellis already, but its got something growing on it. I have no idea if its a weed or what. We have another trellis but I know that's got clematis on it cause its blooming like crazy. Beautiful big violet blooms. The left half of the yard is an herb garden. I think. Some of it sure smells like mint and others look like sage. There is a strawberry plant but I'm not sure if that's a weed. I know I've seem wild strawberries before, but I think this is too big to be wild. Meanwhile through all my planting the dogs on both sides are barking like crazy. On one side its a Scotty and the other some kind of anklebitters. The damn anklebitters barked at me in my own home the other day. The could see over the fence (as I was on the second story) and started yapping. I cannot imagine what it was like when the previous owners lived here with their two big dogs.

I discovered that my fountain has a leak. Poo. It did come with the house so I'm not too put out. I unplugged it. I know you have to refill them periodically but I had to do it everyday, even when it was cloudy and cool. My roses have started blooming despite my serious pruning.

The Kitchen Sink bag is almost finished, I'm one row away from the handles. Peacock is on row 235 of 249. I'm so close I can smell it. Now I need to get an E sized crochet hook for the edging. Remember E. I never remember what letter I need when I'm at Sophies.

stitch and bitch

As usual was awesome. I love all my bitches. Even though I don't win anything anymore because there is a pool of more than 3, I still love the new folks.

I need to hook up the digital camera so I can be a daily picture poster type person. I am on my last row of mesh of the Kitchen Sink bag before working the top. It only sat unworked up stairs for a month. Then I was blazin on it and I ran out of yarn. So I had to break into my contacts savings to get so new stuff. I get paid tomorrow so it should be all good. I did spend the whole drive home debating if I should get gas. And i will probably do it again tomorrow morning. I'm pretty sure I have enough to get to work. And once I get paid its only about a hundred yards to the gas station.

Finally using the damn thing

I only signed up for blogger a year ago, but I've never posted.
