NYC forever

Do yall recognize the blue heart shape-ish not a sock in the lower lefthand corner of the Harlot's picture? Yup that's my cables and os sweater. I survived vacation- barely. We had a mainly good time. I can't tell you how the games came out, though.

I rode the subway, did Times Square, Rockafeller Center, and of course Central Park. I got there early and chatted with a few other early birds, Much yarn and socks were displayed. I spoke to Kay of Mason Dixon. (I asked if she was the Mason of the pair.) My sweater is in two pictures on M/D and so is the tip of my shoe.

After hangin with the knitters for a while about 15 of us walked over to Knitty City. Some really pretty yarn- but you know what I came out of the shop with? I skein of Lambs Pride Bulky. And the Harlot's book. I can't buy yarn without a purpose. The Bulky is a color I have been waiting for the Shoppe to get back in. They had so much seasilk. It was so pretty. And a sample of the scarf Jessie is making. Plus some of the seasilk bulky. Nice. I rode the subway home myself. One of the chicks was a local who told me where the closest station was (not even a whole block away).

We went up the Empire State Building last night. We got in line at 11 oclock and didn't get back to the room until 1 AM. Lori had to be up at 6am to catch her shuttle. So tired am I.

With all my cranky pants-ing I forgot to actually talk about knitting. I finished the sleeves on Cables and Os. The side seam has been sew on each and they are just waiting for the body to catch up. Right now I'm still on the ribbing and each row takes forever. The body is made all in one piece. And the ribbing at the bottom is twisted ribbing, K1P1, twisted ribbing. The RS were I twist the knits takes about 20 minutes- the WS with the twisted purl stitches takes 45 minutes. And I have to do about 20 more rows of this before I can start the pattern. Damn. Plus I swear this time I am going to make the damn thing long enough to be comfortable for me. It should be easier since there is a pattern repeat that I have to follow.

I got acrylic nails yesterday. Lori was getting hers filled and filed. They asked if I wanted some and I said- not unless she's payng for it. And she did want to pay for them so I got them. I've never had fake nails- unless you count the time I was a witch when I was seven and they all fell off before I got three houses down whist trick or treating. They still feel really weird,, but they make my fingers look so good. French manicure in case anyone was wondering.

I'm see yall next week!

Yall, I'm leaving for New York tomorrow. And I can say I'm not even excited. All I want to do is go to the top of the Empire State Building, and I've already done that. It was the only thing I got to do the last time. If they weren't going to be on a game show I would just eat the 300 buck for the plane ticket and stay home. Its going to be coldish. I have to much stuff to worry about. Will the hotel give us shit about staying in the room? Are thos other girls coming? Will that Douchebag other player even show up? Is he going to end up just flaking? Will I be able to survive with my aunt for that long? How are we going to sleep? Will they confiscate my needles? Should I put in a lifeline now? Will I have enough money? Will I have any money left over. Anything I have left over will be a nice boost for my Disney Fund.

Sigh.

I watched The Quick and the Dead tonight. I lurve that movie. Russell Crowe before he went a little crazy- looking all tan and yummy. Also a good movie for 6 Degrees.
